Heat Pump Technology
Unlike a furnace it doesn't burn fuel to make heat. It simply uses electricity to move heat from one place to another. In the cooling mode, an air conditioner or heat pump simply capture heat from inside your home and transfer it outside. In heating, a heat pump actually reverse-cycles and captures heat from outside and moves it inside. This process is more efficient than electric heat as it is much less expensive to transfer existing heat than to actually generate it. There is usable heat in the air down to about 0 degrees Fahrenheit. It feels cold to us because our skin temperature is 98.6 degrees.
A heat pump's heating capacity is rated at 47 degrees ambient (outside) temperature. As the outside temperature drops the heat pumps capacity drops in a linear fashion relative to the outdoor temperature. Most heat pumps will produce about half of their rated capacity at 12 degrees ambient. An electric heating element provides supplemental heat to assist the heat pump as it's capacity declines. The heat pump monitors both the outdoor temperature and inside supply air temperature and energizes the assist as needed, automatically. Features, Features, and More Features
The coil is a rifled, refrigeration-grade copper tube and aluminum fin construction for maximum durability and heat transfer. All Goodman heat pump condensers are designed for ground level or rooftop mounting with bottom pan rails to elevate the unit away from moisture. The maintenance-free condenser fan motor is totally enclosed and permanently lubricated.
Plus, the built-in filter dryer removes potentially harmful moisture from the system, providing protection from contaminants Goodman doesn't cut corners on the cabinet either - it is constructed from heavy-gauge, zinc-clad G90 galvanized steel and is designed to help prevent damage from yard debris and the elements. The special polyester powder paint finish is "baked-on", providing an extra measure of protection for years of long-lasting good looks. This construction design looks great in any architectural environment. These high-quality components ensure that your new Goodman heat pump system will comfortably heat and cool your home for years to come. Quiet Operation So You and Your Neighbors Can Rest Easy
Built-in sound deadening features include:
The result? Quiet and smooth operation that won't disturb you and your family. Affordable and Efficient Performance Every single unit is run-tested before shipment and leak-tested three separate times during the manufacturing process to ensure a trouble-free installation. Plus, to save costs at installation time the heat pump condenser is pre-charged with R-22 refrigerant for up to 15-20 feet of tubing. The new Goodman GSH series heat pumps offer affordable, reliable, and quiet operation you can count on year after year.
Under the terms of all manufacturer's warranty and to comply with federal refrigerant handling laws, it is required that the system be checked, started up and signed-off on by a licensed air conditioning/heating contractor prior to use. Failure to comply with this provision will void all factory warranties. Keep a copy of the installation ticket for your records. Please ensure that all supply and return ductwork is properly sized and that a permit is obtained (where required). Always conform with applicable local and state codes. Electrical connections should only be made by a licensed electrical contractor. Unqualified persons should never attempt installation of this or any HVAC system. The Goodman Corporation

The Goodman ARUF series factory matched air handler is the answer to superior heating and cooling performance.
For quiet performance and greater comfort in both heating and cooling this air handler simply out-performs the competition.
An air handler is comprised of an evaporator coil and a blower, which circulates cooled or heated air throughout your home.
The Goodman ARUF series air handlers are easy to install, and what's more, they provide years of quiet and dependable operation.
The Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute (ARI) sets the heating ventilation and air conditioning industry's standards for performance and efficiency.
When you use the Goodman ARUF air handlers, you are getting ARI-certified performance, as well as quality, reliability, and comfort.
Standard Goodman air handler quality features include:
Goodman uses only high quality, long-lasting rifled copper tubing in their coil construction to withstand the rigors of typical use and to provide maximum heat transfer.
This durable tubing is mechanically bonded to enhanced rippled-edged and louvered fins, providing even heat transfer that's efficient and economical.
Then, to ensure consistent performance, every coil is tested three times to detect leaks. And not just the obvious kind.
Goodman tests for the smallest possible leaks, so small they may only surrender one ounce of refrigerant in ten years. It's this commitment to quality performance that seperates the Goodman ARUF series air handler from the competition.
The Goodman ARUF series air handler is not only among the most dependable made, but can significantly improve the air quality in your home.
Goodman has created a specially-designed drain pan that provides for more complete condensation removal, preventing the build-up of mold and mildew within the system.
And, when you add one of our whole-house air cleaners to your system, you will experience a reduction in dust, pollen and other allergens throughout your entire home resulting in a cleaner, healthier, more comfortable home.
This air handler also includes a supplemental heating element up to 15KW for increased heating capacity. (When purchased as part of an optional electric heat system) Flexible installation
The Goodman air handler is versatile and can be installed as an upflow (ductwork above the air handler), downflow (ductwork under the air handler), and horizontally (air handler in an attic, crawlspace, or basement).
If you are capable, you can do most of the installation yourself and then set up a service call for a professional to come and open the refrigeration system and check the charge.
Any qualified air conditioning technician can easily install this system in your home or office. It will normally require about 5-8 hours to replace an existing, similar type system.
The Goodman® 2006 ARUF Multi-Position Air Handler is suitable for use with refrigerants R-410A and R-22. This unit features a check flowrater expansion device and may be installed in a variety of locations.
