The prices will see an increase of around ten percent. The price increase is expected to take effect on Monday, February 5, 2024. It is attributed to the expected rise in the cost of R-410A refrigerant among other reasons. The R-410A is the fluid responsible for cooling and dehumidifying indoor air. It absorbs and releases heat as it cycles between the indoor evaporator coil and the outdoor condensing unit. 

The price increase of R-410A can be attributed to several factors. Notably changes in environmental regulations that require a shift to more eco-friendly alternatives. There is also market dynamics such as supply-demand imbalances, increased manufacturing costs, and disruptions in the supply chain.

Two of the Biggest Players in the HVAC industry Increase Prices

Lennox's announcement is not a surprise, as it seems like a follow-up to a similar one made in October, in which it announced a price increase of up to 8% on commercial equipment and accessories. This decision shows the new reality that the HVAC industry is facing, which includes rising production costs and market inflation.

It seems that Lennox is not alone in this move, as according to an announcement earlier in November 17, 2023, Trane Technologies has declared a price adjustment on residential HVAC equipment as well, which translated to an increase of up to 5% on some products. 

This shift is not restricted to Trane products alone; it will also apply to select American Standard Heating & Air Conditioning, RunTru by Trane, and Ameristar products, along with related parts and supplies brands. These changes are not immediate but are scheduled to take effect on Monday, January 1, 2024. Thus, consumers and HVAC professionals have time to prepare for the potential cost changes.
