What if I Need a Warranty Repair?

Reviewed by AC Direct Technical Team Updated June 6, 20263 min read
The short answerEvery system ships with its original factory warranty from the manufacturer. If a covered part fails, a local licensed contractor diagnoses the problem and claims the replacement part through the manufacturer warranty or an authorized distributor. AC Direct sells and ships the equipment and can point you to the manufacturer process, but does not supply, receive, or replace warranty parts, and labor is never covered.

What is covered

All equipment sold by AC Direct comes with its original factory warranty from the manufacturer. That warranty covers parts in your system. If a covered component fails during the warranty period, the manufacturer provides the replacement part under the terms of its warranty. Labor to diagnose and install the part is never covered by the manufacturer warranty and is handled separately by your contractor.

How to get a warranty part

Start with a local licensed contractor. The contractor diagnoses the failure, identifies the specific part, and files the claim through the manufacturer warranty or an authorized parts distributor for your brand. This is the standard process for Goodman, MRCOOL, ACiQ, Mitsubishi, Daikin, and other brands. The manufacturer, not the retailer, supplies the covered part.

What AC Direct can help with

AC Direct sells and ships HVAC equipment. We do not install, service, or repair systems, and we do not stock, supply, or replace warranty parts. If a covered part fails, our support team can point you to the manufacturer warranty process and confirm the details of the equipment you purchased so your contractor can file the claim correctly.

Why the service invoice matters

Manufacturers usually ask for proof that a qualified professional inspected the system and identified the part that failed. A clear service invoice keeps the warranty claim accurate and helps the manufacturer or distributor send the right part the first time, which avoids return trips and delays.

Common questions

Does the warranty cover labor?
No. The factory warranty covers parts only. The contractor service call and the labor to install a replacement part are billed separately and are never covered by the manufacturer warranty.
Can AC Direct send me a warranty part?
No. AC Direct sells and ships equipment but does not supply or replace warranty parts. A covered part is claimed through the manufacturer warranty or an authorized distributor, usually filed by your local licensed contractor.
How do I start a warranty claim?
Have a local licensed contractor diagnose the failure and identify the part. The contractor then files the claim through the manufacturer or an authorized distributor. AC Direct support can point you to the right manufacturer process.
