When using a mini split sizing calculator for rooms below a conditioned space, apply an additional .7 factor to your final Btu outcome.
For example, if your Btu requirement via this calculator is 18,000 Btu's: 18,000 Btu's x .7 factor = 12,600 Btu's required. When in doubt, it is okay to go up a size or two. Engineered for energy savings and quiet performance, the 2MXTH18AVJU9 features a SEER2 rating of 21.0, EER2 of 12.0, and HSPF2 of 10.0. It uses R32 refrigerant, which is more environmentally friendly than older alternatives, and includes a hermetically sealed swing compressor for long-lasting, low-maintenance operation. The system is designed to perform efficiently even at 5°F outdoor temperatures, with a COP of 1.8.
Installation is flexible, with support for up to 164 feet of total piping length and 49 feet of elevation difference between units. The outdoor unit operates at a quiet 54 dB(A) and is built with anti-corrosion protection, making it suitable for coastal or harsh environments.

What Is a Drain Pan Heater?
In a heat pump system, the drain pan collects condensation that forms during the heating and defrost cycles. In cold weather, this water can freeze, leading to ice buildup that may damage the unit or reduce its efficiency.
A drain pan heater is an electric heating element installed in the pan. It automatically activates when temperatures drop, preventing ice from forming by gently warming the pan. This ensures that water drains properly and the system continues to operate smoothly
