When using a mini split sizing calculator for rooms below a conditioned space, apply an additional .7 factor to your final Btu outcome.
For example, if your Btu requirement via this calculator is 18,000 Btu's: 18,000 Btu's x .7 factor = 12,600 Btu's required. When in doubt, it is okay to go up a size or two. This matched system provides 17,300 BTU/h of rated cooling and 18,000 BTU/h of rated heating capacity, along with efficiency ratings of 18 SEER2, 7.7 EER2, and 8.5 HSPF2. Its higher capacity makes it well suited for larger living rooms, finished basements, garages, workshops, sunrooms, additions, and other areas where centralized ductwork may not be the best solution.
